There’s nothing we love more than inviting friends and family over for a fun-filled day in the yard. Aimee shows you how to host the perfect 4th of July party with her tips below.
1. Plan an All-American Menu.
The menu doesn’t have to be complex or require much prep. Fire up the grill and cook burgers and hot dogs. Serve potato salad, coleslaw, watermelon, a relish tray, and potato chips with ranch dip. Homemade apple crisp served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream is the perfect 4th of July dessert. After the festivities come to an end, who wants to wash dishes? Use paper plates and disposable silverware for an easy party cleanup.
2. Decorate with Red, White, and Blue.
Red and white Geraniums, red, white, and blue paper lanterns, and all different sizes of American Flags add lots of color without a lot of prep. A couple TIKI Brand citronella wax candles in red, white, and blue are festive. Add ambiance and lighting for parties that extend into the night with the addition of a few Island King® Large Flame Torches, and a TIKI Brand Fire Sculpture – I love my Antigua.
3. Plan Kid Friendly Activities.
A party isn’t just for the kids, adults like having a chance to visit, too. Set the party up with lots of kid friendly activities so the kids are entertained without mom and dad hovering over. 1. Set up a craft table for kids to make thank you cards to mail to our troops. 2. Plan a watermelon seed-spitting contest and give the kids lots of time to practice for the big moment. 3. Carve out a time for the kids to run through the sprinklers. 4. A few rounds of musical chairs using our favorite patriotic songs is a fun activity for kids and adults alike.
As evening approaches, fireworks are a whole lot of fun. If your area allows home fireworks make sure there is plenty of adult supervision for the kids. If fireworks aren’t permitted near your home, there may be firework display for you and guests to enjoy nearby – come up with a plan in advance.
